Final Year Dissertation

‘What Is the Role of Originality in Contemporary Graphic Arts and Design?’ explores the meaning of originality, circulation of trends, reproduction and the search for authenticity in the graphic arts and design industries.

Founded upon recent self-initiated survey records and interviews, as well as extensive, carefully selected sources of primary and secondary research, the essay comes from

a deep rooted anxiety surrounding the struggle to create

something new in the information age. The dissertation is supported by a visual journal —the progress map—  kept over the year 2019 in course of researching and writing, containing a variety of visual references, research methods, thoughts and the archival of any relevant information exchange in regards to the process. The limited edition physical copies have been been printed at Ravensbourne University and bound by PUSH Print.
